Main wandering?????

My dear ones.

I have been away too long and many of you have been asking me whether the blog is dead. No, dearies, I just took a break (kitkat break toh banta hai na).But the break got too long. .

Today I would like to tell you a secret to concentration. I have already shared this in the class .Yes, right the two minute seconds needle watch. Watch the second’s needle tick for 2 minutes without your mind wandering. This way you learn to control your thoughts. I learnt this technique from a book titled ‘Megaliving’ by Robin Sharma. But as you know it is effective only if you are persistant. When we meet next week I will be asking you whether you have been following this. It should be made a habit and slowly you an increase the time too.

And what is the use of controlling thoughts? Well, thoughts control our destiny. What we are, our health and even our future are controlled by our thoughts. We will be discussing the power of thoughts in days ahead. Control over thoughts makes us very powerful and strong.

Be strong and be positive.

Raji.

Everyone knows Chachaji. He was the first Prime Minister of India , well known for his love towards children.A gandhi cap and a rose oh his shirt ,he is placed in the heart of every Indian.

He was born on november 14 th 1886 as the son of motilal nehru and Swroop Rani, educated in India and later went England for higher studies. His father was a rich barrister and a popular leader of freedom fightersHe wanted his son to become an advocate. After Jawaharlal returned to India,he saw the condition of India and came into forefront of freedom struggle.

In 1919 , he met Gandhiji, this was the begining of an everlasting friendship and collaboration. He married Kamala Kaul who was also a fill time freedom fighter.Their daughter Priyadarshini(later named Indira Gandhi) became the first woman prime minister, she became famous for her brave movements including the operation Blue Star which led to her assasination.

Jawaharlal was prisoned many number of times. From jail, he sent many letters to his daughter Indira to teach her about the world. This letter collection was later published in the name, "The Glimpses Of World History".This book was published in many languages all over the world. He had a strong heart and even after hearing about the death of his wife, he continued the struggle. His character was straight forward.Even after becoming the PM he never misused the state treasury and lived a common man's life.

' WATER IS A LOVELY THING' by Anjitha Vishwanath.

Here is a poem by Anjitha Vishwanath of Class VI

Water is a lovely thing.

Water is a lovely thing-

Dark and quiet in a pool,

Dark and ripply in a spring,

In the muddle brown and cool,

In the fountain crystal light.

In the rain drop and in the dew

like silver paint.

In the warm and strong sea,

Water is preciuos than-

gold and silver,

daimond and pearl.

Water is a lovely thing to every one.

Difficult subject ??

My Dear Ones
The exams are over and the result are out.You have been paid for the toil you put in.But there might be many of you not really pleased with the result.Maybe you did not get the marks you expected. Some subjects seem either tough or simply boring?
What can be done for such subjects? There seems to be no alternative. You have to work hard.It is seen that the more time and attention you devote to a subject you start mastering it.Then that subject does not remain tough or boring.
You can try to find out your friend to whom you can teach what you have learnt and try to explain in simple terms. When you teach you get a chance to rephrase what you have learnt in your own words. Also it sends a connection to your brain. You get to know which areas in the topic is strong and which ares you have to work more on.
Hope you would learn to improve on the weak subjects by the comming mid term.
Have a nice time and take care.

Destination : Building up better memory and concentration

My dear ones
Hi!
Exams are approaching and many might be feeling stressed. Today I am discussing here certain techniques which help boost memory. Try to follow them and you will find studies take comparatively lesser time, remains in the memory longer and maybe you will enjoy it too.
Food
Salmons and sardines are rich in omega fats and does wonders for memory. Include them in your diet twice a week. Have food rich in Vitamin B especially B 12, like fresh leafy vegetables. Almonds in the morning are good for boosting memory.
Sleep:
The day before your exam it is important to have your full quota of sleep. Sleep promotes the production of chemicals like melatonin in the body which is important for overall health and also memory. Each one of us has different sleep requirements.
Exercise:
Exercise increases blood circulation to each part of the body including the brain .Have plenty of fresh air too when you are exercising (if that is not possible you can still do the exercise)
Mental Exercise:
Here I will suggest some exercise which helps develop the habit of concentration.
1) Count breaths. You may decide how many numbers and do it say up to 108 times. Then count back the numbers with the breath. Do this for a week
2) Count skipping a number at a time. Say you count only the even numbers or odd numbers with each breath and then count backwards. This can be done in the second week. Any mistake you make you may start count right from beginning.
3) You can also try the breathing exercise which works wonders for concentration and memory. It is also very beneficial for those who have the problems facing the exams and tendency to forget things in the exam hall.It is called Anuloma Viloma pranayam
ANULOMA AILOMA PRANAYAMA:
1) To practice this breathing exercise sit up in a comfortable position. Sit cross legged or on a chair.
Elongate your spine upwards, lengthen your neck and subtly bring your chin back and in like a soldier at attention. This will align the spine with the back of your head.
Fold your index finger and middle finger into the palm of your right hand so just the thumb, ring finger and little finger are extended. Hold your knee with your left hand.
Close your eyes.
Bring your attention to your breathing and take 5 deep, slow breaths though the nose. This will oxygenate your blood and relax you. For the rest of the exercise the attention should remain on your breath.
Now with your right thumb gently close the right nostril and breathe in slowly and completely through the left nostril only counting mentally from 1 to 4.
Now gently close the left nostril with your right ring finger and pinkie and releasing the right nostril breathe out through it only, counting mentally from 1 to 4.
Now breathe in through the RIGHT nostril only, keeping the left closed, counting mentally from 1 to 4.
Finally, re-close the right nostril and breathe out through the left only, counting mentally from 1 to 4. This completes 1 cycle of Anuloma Viloma Pranayama.
Repeat 5 times in the beginning and increase the counts later.

OTHER TIPS
1) Chunking :
This involves braking the sudy material you have into parts and then study each part.
2) Rehearse information frequently and “over-learn”. Review what you’ve learned the same day you learn it, and at intervals thereafter. What researchers call “spaced rehearsal” is more effective than “cramming.” If you’re able to “over-learn” information so that recalling it becomes second nature, so much the better
3) Play memory games:
To tone up your brain you can play memory games, Jigsaw puzzles helps a lot and is fun too.
Be regular with your studies and don’t let work pile up. If you keep things the day just before the exams you will be stressed and find it difficult.

‘All the best’ for your first term examinations. Happy learning!
